There is something that really pisses me off. Remember the stories about Jessica Lynch, the woman POW, who was “rescued” from the Iraqis? How come no one remembers the information about her Iraqi captors on CNN? You know, the explanation that her “captors” tried to hand her over at a checkpoint the day before, and that her “captors” were fired upon even after they explained who they were and what they were doing there. Is this is how the army pinpointed where she was? Am I suggesting that her “rescue” was a set-up? Do I have to try? What I can’t understand is why this and other stuff is so quickly forgotten by the American populace.
Even if stories like the Lynch “rescue” weren’t true, you would think someone would have made a stink about these stories. It’s more likely that those who report stories like this are bullied into making them go away. Is this because they contradicted the word of those in power? Nah, such a thing would never happen! Not here! Not in America!
Tuesday, CBS announced that they will not broadcast the mini-series about Ronald Reagan. It seems they were bullied into it because the movie contradicts the conservative view of the legendary Ronald Reagan.
Believe it or not, I am not one of those who think Reagan was a twit. In fact, I think the man was very smart, at least thru his first term. Although, he wasn’t was a 50 foot giant with iron hard skin who ate Communist with one hand while writing doctrine that would become the law that made this country great with the other. Many ultra-conservatives actually have this image. The reality is that it was just a matter of time before the Soviet Union would collapse under the strain of competing with the West. The thing is that competition hurt the USA nearly as much.
People forget things like the massive farm foreclosures in the eighties. The explosion of the homeless population. Double digit inflation. The mullet! Ok, the last one was not Reagan’s fault, but the others were the result of policies that were implemented in the hopes that the Soviet Union would try to match us. Reagan knew we could pull out of a spiraling dive, but the Soviet Union would not. They crashed, we didn’t, and it happened under the Reagan/Bush regime. It was a power plan. A good one, but a power plan none the less.
Remember the first Bush, Number One? He ran things as if the Soviet Union were still around. Boy, did that suck… or do you forget? They are beginning to re-write history showing him as one of the greatest presidents of the 20th century, after Saint Ronald that is. Then there was Clinton, the two term president. He took office with a growing deficit, and left with a surplus… but he got a blow job! What a dirty dirty man. You think Reagan ever got a Blow Job? Hell no!! After all, a blow job is more serious then trading arms for hostages or flat out lying to congress, or even being a drunk and coke head at one time.
Reagan is remembered as the greatest president of the 20th century, and Clinton will be remembered as a jerk-off. No one will actually remember this stuff though, but told what they remember.
Knowing this before hand, there’s no point in actually thinking for yourself, so just forget it. I am sure you already have.
