The M16

I have a terrific idea, but one that will never come to be, because our government has invested way too much in selling the lie. It has to do with the M16A2 assault weapon used by the US Military. I am not a fan of war, but let’s face the fact that the US is going to send troops to kill and be killed for a long time. I for one want the US Military to be supplied with the best weapon there is, and the M16A2 simply is not It.

The M16A2 is deadly accurate even at it's maximum range... when it works. The thing is that it's glitchy, even 25 years after the Vietnam War. The redesign of the AR-15/M16 made a toy a "super toy."

If what I am saying pisses you off, it should, but not at me for saying it. I am just telling you the truth. You should be pissed off at the US government that has been lying through their teeth about this abortion of a weapon for the past quarter century.

The fix for this problem is terribly simple, and that is for the US government to finally forget about the M16 family of weapons and supply our fighting forces with the best assault weapon in production today, the Russian AK74. Yes, the 74, not the 47. The former Soviet Union produced something like 70 million AK47s for sale around the world. The major redesign, the AK74, was the Soviet (now the Russian) Army's weapon. It puts the AK47 to shame.

Some of you may be hoping up and down right now, sure that I have no idea what I am talking about. In fact, my brother (who was in the US Army) wanted to smack the shit out if me. "The [M16A2] is a good weapon!" In comparison to the AK47, a design that is 20 years older then the M16, the M16A2 is better, but only marginally, and not in all areas. The M16A2 is also still plagued with the same flaws it has had since the early 60s. It is not very reliable, which is the most important thing for a soldier's primary weapon. If you think I am talking crap, there is a very good chance that you are sheep who wears an american flag pin and thinks a 20% decline in the stock market is a little "bump in the road."

Hey, Russia knows they have the best weapon, and the rest of the world knows it too. The only people who don't are the average US citezens. Why not buy the AK74?? Russia could use what would be the best arms contract the world has ever seen, and the US Military gets the best weapon the world has ever seen. The US would save billions of dollars in the process, and Russia makes a lot of money at the same time. Everyone wins… except those who have to die in order the keep the arms market flourishing, but what's a little death when there's money to be made?

I can't wait for the idiots to flame me over this...
