What's liberal? What's conservative? Few people in this
society have the slightest idea. Most people either believe
that one or the other is a distinction between political
parties in the USA. The slightly more intelligent believe
that a person must be one or the other in order to be
a part of a certain political party. Still others believe
that one must be an asshole to be one or the other, in most
cases the one that they are not.
It is true that the majority of those in the American
Democratic party are for the most part liberal, and that
the majority of those in the American Republican party are
for the most part conservative, but this is not the
defining characteristic of either the liberal or conservative.
I know that you're really bored with this shit by now,
but try to stick with it. There's a real good point coming
up, I swear...
If a liberal came to a river, he would more than likely
build a boat to cross it, all the way making plans on how
things may be set up to make the crossing easier for all at
a later date. Cost is not an issue.
If a conservative came to a river, he would more than
likely build a bridge in order to cross it, all the way
not worrying about crossing the river at a later date, because
the bridge is there. Cost is not an issue.
A liberal sees things the way they are, and works with
it all to get through. A conservative sees things the way they
should be, and tries to change things to get through.
Here's where things get sticky. How are things? How
should things be? These are opinions, aren't they? There
is no one way to think for every situation, and no two people
think exactly alike. Therefore, there is nothing definitive between a liberal and conservative. They both made it across
the river, and they're now arguing with each other which way
of doing it was best.
Being one or the other doesn't mean anything at all when
you're working towards a common goal. It's what gets done,
that's what's important. What's been done in the past
20 years? The liberals say that they've done everything that's
good and the conservatives have done everything that's bad.
The conservatives say the exact same thing. The truth is
somewhere in the middle with both taking equal amounts of kudos' and blame. If they stopped bitching long enough, maybe they'd
realize that.
Basically, everything you just read is complete and utter
bullshit. These are my opinions, and may be those of
other libertarians, but certainly not all. The only thing I
can say for sure is that I can't say anything for sure.
A wise man once said, "Opinions are like assholes; we all
have them." Unfortunately, the people who make the big
decisions that affect us all are basing everything on their
own opinions; yours usually don't count.
Are you liberal or conservative? Who gives a shit. Just
try to deal with life, and don't make a face when the
next guy farts...
